Lady Jays tennis takes second at Altus Tournament

Both tennis programs for Guthrie High School took on the Altus Tennis Tournament on April 5 at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. The Lady Jays took second overall.

 

Cheyenne Royal played #1 Singles and placed third.

1^st Round she defeated Edmond Santa Fe, and the score was 6-4, 4-6, 10-3.

She lost to McGuiness in the second round, 6-2, 6-1

In the third place match, she defeated Altus 6-2, 4-6, 10-8

 

Ryan Robbins played #2 Singles, and placed third.

1^st Round she defeated El Reno, 6-4, 6-2

2^nd Round, she lost to McGuiness 6-2, 6-1

In the match for third place, she defeated Altus 6-3, 1-6, 12-10

 

Carissa Mathena and Jillian Chappell played #1 Doubles and placed third

1^st Round they defeated Altus 6-1, 6-3

2^nd Round they lost to McGuiness 6-2, 6-1

In the third place match, they defeated Westmoore 6-3, 7-5

 

Kaylea Hopfer and Kamber Smedley played # 2 Doubles and placed second

1^st Round, they defeated Chickasha 6-2, 6-0

2^nd Round, they defeated Altus 6-3, 0-6, 12-10

In the finals, they lost to McGuiness 6-0, 6-3

 

Andy Hartley played # 1 Singles and placed fourth

1^st Round, he defeated Chickasha 6-1, 6-2

2^nd Round, he lost to Ponca City 6-0, 6-0

In the third place match, he lost to McGuiness 6-1, 6-2

 

Brandon LaMarche played # 2 Singles and placed fourth

1^st Round, he defeated Midwest City 6-3, 6-4

2^nd Round, he lost to McGuiness 6-1, 6-1

In the third place match, he lost Westmoore 6-4, 6-1

 

Adam Beery and Dakota Leach played # 1 Doubles and placed fifth

1^st Round, they defeated Lawton MacArthur 6-0, 6-1

2^nd Round, they lost to Ponca City 6-2, 4-6, 10-7

In the third round, they defeated Altus 6-3, 7-5

In the last round, they defeated Southmoore by injury default.

 

Joe Kuruvilla and Jacob Ventris played # 2 Doubles and placed seventh

1^st Round, they lost to McGuiness 6-3, 6-2

2^nd Round, they lost to Westmoore 6-0, 6-0

3^rd Round, they lost to Altus 7-6, 6-4

In the last round, they defeated Southmoore 6-1, 6-4
