The Guthrie softball program did just about everything you would want a team to do. They did not allow a base on ball, did not commit an error in the field and not one player struck out at the plate. Still with that, it was not enough to overcome Blackwell.
Guthrie drops to 2-1 on the season after a 3-2 loss in Blackwell on Thursday afternoon.
Head coach Chase Langley said his team played well enough to win. The one spot the coach looks back on that helped determine the game was leaving eight on the base paths.
Blackwell secured a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.
Guthrie scored both of their runs in the sixth.
Madison Dutton and Karrah Dean (RBI) started the inning with hits and with miscues in the field both scored to pull within a run.
Guthrie went down in order in the seventh.
The Lady Jays, who are 2-0 in the district with wins over Capitol Hill earlier in the week, return home on Monday and entertain Southeast in a district game. Both teams will play Tuesday in OKC.
