Largest automobile touring event visits Guthrie

The Guthrie Masonic Temple was surrounded with several historically correct cars from all over the United States on Tuesday afternoon as part of the Revival AAA Glidden Tour. Guthrie is one of five locations in the state to host the event.

Article continues following the video.

The tour is the largest automobile touring event in America. The first tour was sponsored by the American Automobile Association (AAA) in 1904 to promote the use of the automobile and help create standardized laws for the use of automobiles.

In 1946, the Veterans Motor Car Club of America revived the Glidden Tour® and the tours have been held every year since. If you or anyone you know holds events similar to this, one of the main aspects they will need to look into is Car Wash Insurance. This is because there are a number of risks associated, such as natural disasters, fire, theft, accidents and equipment failure. Companies like i4mt who offer this insurance can help mitigate some of the risk, if not all.

The tour has gathered over 200 pre-1943 automobiles and up to 600 people are expected to participate in the tour.

Several came out to the Masonic Temple to view and snap photos of the road cars from yesteryear. Volunteers of the tour sold “View and Vote” ballots that will benefit the Oklahoma Literacy Coalition programs.

The week-long tour started on Monday at Red Rock Canyon and will travel to Automobile Alley in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Chickasha on Thursday and concluding on Friday in Norman.
