The Guthrie Public Library is excited to continue Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma! is a book discussion series made possible by a generous grant provided by the Oklahoma Humanities Council, National Endowment for the Humanities, Kirkpatrick Foundation, and Inasmuch Foundation.
The current series, The Gilded Age, began in January and will meet for two more sessions: The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. DuBois on 28 April; and The Call of the Wild by Jack London on 19 May.
Even if customers don’t have time to read the book, all are welcome and encouraged to join the event. Our esteemed local scholars will deliver a presentation that expands on the themes and the background of the books. The Fall 2014 series, beginning in August, will be Crime and Punishment, with four books considering the question: Is justice served by the law?
Readings include fiction, true crime analysis, and science fiction, featuring To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, and A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines.
Discussions are held on Monday evenings from 6 – 8 pm and refreshments are served. Guthrie Public Library has plenty of copies of each book- simply stop by the Library to register and pick up your copy today! Please call 282-0050 or go to www.guthrielibrary.com to learn more.
