Guthrie High School has seen its fair amount of accomplishments from their students as they prepare for college and Linzi Thomas added her name to the list. An impressive list.
Thomas was appointed to attend the United States Air Force Academy as a member of the Class of 2017. She will follow the foot steps of her father Gaylord Z. Thomas, who was a graduate of the 1986 class.
Linzi was one of 1,200 appointed out of 12,000 applicants and is set to report to the Cadet Wing on June 27.
The scholarship is valued at $414,000.
One of the first people to reach out to Linzi was U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, who serves on the Armed Services Committee.
In a letter, Inhofe said, “You have an oppurtunity, afforded to few individuals, for a first class education. I know from looking at your record that you will be successful in whatever your career choice.”
