The Oklahoma Highway Patrol announced their Troopers of the Year and one of the seven honored is from Guthrie.
Trooper Reggie Callins, a resident of Guthrie, was recognized for his efforts at the Department of Public Safety’s 75th Anniversary Banquet as the 2012 OHP Trooper of the Year for Valor.
Joining Callins were honored troopers Lance Schroyer, Kenneth Pittman, Steve Johnson, Eric Blades, Brian Costanza and David Vasquez.
Governor Mary Fallin and DPS Commissioner Michael Thompson was on hand to honor the troopers.
Callins, who has been with OHP for 17 years, serves in many areas with the department, including the Lead Defensive Tactics and Firearms Instructor. Callins also has been a key member of the OHP Tactical team for the past eight years.
Since 1997, Callins has taught at the OHP Patrol Academies and instructs and trains all new cadets.
Callins is married to Cris Callins and they have two sons (Keaton and Kai).
