Logan County Assessor’s Office urges property owners to report wildfire damage

The Logan County Assessor’s Office is urging property owners whose homes or properties were damaged or destroyed by the March 2025 wildfires to contact their office as soon as possible to ensure proper value adjustments are made for the current year.

Oklahoma law provides for adjustments to property values in cases of natural disasters and loss of functional use. To facilitate this process, field appraisers from the assessor’s office will be visiting burn sites to document damage and update property records for 2025. The appraisers will be driving clearly marked vehicles and carrying official badge identification.

Next month, the assessor’s office will send out 2025 valuation notices to property owners whose property values are increasing. However, if a property was affected by the wildfires, these notices will not reflect fire-related adjustments, as field inspections may still be ongoing. Property owners are encouraged to reach out as soon as possible to ensure records are updated before year-end billing, helping to avoid corrections later in the process.

For those with questions or who need to report damage details, the Logan County Assessor’s Office can be contacted at (405) 282-3509 or by visiting their office at 312 E. Harrison, Ste. 102 in the Courthouse Annex in Guthrie. Additionally, property owners can email logancountyok@gmail.com for assistance.

Logan County Assessor Mary Murphey expressed her condolences to those affected by the wildfires and assured residents that her office will do everything possible to assist them during this difficult time.
