Fire crews were first called out to Post Road and County Road 76 (north between Jaxton and Seacrest). The fire proved to be the largest of the three and is estimated to burn 1,200 to 1,500 acres of land in about a three-mile plus area.

Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow says five to six structures were lost, many believed to be barns, and several hay bales. Although, there was some close calls, there was no homes destroyed.

One home reported did receive visible damage when the fire crawled up next to their home and burned the skirting, a portion of their deck and several items in the yard.

Fire officials believe the cause of the fire was a rekindle of the fire that crews battled the previous day.

As the Logan and Oklahoma County Task Force’s battled that grass fire, the second call came in.

Crews responded to College and Kelly behind Cimarron Golf Course. It is unsure how many acres were burned, but assisting Guthrie with the fire was the Kingfisher Task Force and Twin Lakes.

The third grass fire was reported at Hiwassee and Forrest Hills roads. Guthrie News Page has learned the fire, that burned up 80 acres, was started by a camp fire ring where individuals were cooking food.

Fire officials thanked Logan County Emergency Management, American Red Cross and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office in assisting. All fires were contained by six o’clock and with the expected wind change fire crews will be working throughout the night.

Logan County District 1 and 2 supplied dozers while District 3 supplied a road grader to help battle the growing grass fires. Environmental Management Inc. (EMI) supplied a water tanker.

There were no injuries reported.
