Logan County Health Department finalizes deal for new location on Oklahoma Ave.

The Logan County Board of County Commissioners approved the purchase of a building that will become the future home of the Logan County Health Department.

During its Nov. 14 meeting, the board approved a $750,000 purchase agreement with Town and Company Investment LLC for the building located at 324 E. Oklahoma.

The property was originally built as a medical clinic and continues to be configured as a clinic despite being used as a restaurant for the last several months.

Health Department officials told commissioners the building is a good fit for the department’s needs and will require only minimal renovations compared to their current location at 215 Fairgrounds Road.

Health Department officials also noted the site is better suited for long-term use and avoids issues such as flooding that have affected other facilities.

Funding for the purchase will come entirely from the Logan County Health Department, using capital funds that have been saved over the past several years through grant funding. Commissioners emphasized that no county general funds are being used for the purchase.

Commissioners confirmed the purchase price of $750,000, with the seller agreeing to repair the roof as part of the deal. Following the discussion, a motion was made, seconded, and approved unanimously.

Health Department officials have finalized the paperwork with the title company and are working with an architect to complete renovation plans.

Renovation work is expected to begin in the spring.
