Logan County votes Obama, Santorum as primary winners

Super Tuesday turned out just as expected in both Logan County and Oklahoma with voters selecting President Barack Obama as the Democratic primary winner and Rick Santorum as the Republican primary winner.

Unofficial numbers show 5,938 Logan County residents got out to cast their vote and on the Republican side just about every voted count with 433 votes separating the top three choices.

Santorum received 1,723 votes, or 35.45% of the votes while Mitt Romney gathered 1,329 (27.35%) and Newt Gingrich totaled 1,290 (26.54%) in the 22 county precincts.

President Obama totaled 667 of the 1,078 Democratic votes and was good enough for 61.87%. Randall Terry came in second with a distance 150 votes, or 13.91%.

For the state all 1,961 precincts reporting, Santorum collected 96,536 votes, or 33.82% to win the Oklahoma primary and Obama took the win easily for the Democrats, but by just 57.07% of the votes. In total unofficial numbers, Obama received 64,257 votes and Terry brought in 20,291(18.56%).

CNN, who was in Guthrie for the primary coverage on Tuesday, is projecting Romney to win Ohio and three other states while Santorum will win three states and Gingrich one (Georgia) in the Super Tuesday primaries.
