Luke Savage, Guthrie, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Gene Haas Foundation.
The purpose of the scholarship is to support students attending and participating in the 2022 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference competition for computer numeric control (CNC) technology.
Savage competed in Secondary Automated Manufacturing Team. Gene Haas is the owner of Haas Automation, a builder of CNC machine tools.
In 1999 Haas started the foundation after recognizing the skills gap in the manufacturing industry. Since then, the foundation has provided scholarships for CNC machine technology students across the U.S. and Canada, as well as scholarships for credentials through the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
