A southern Logan County woman was able to escape bullets inside her home after her husband reportedly fired multiple shots toward her.
Logan County deputies responded to the 2900 block of Maple Lane on January 23 in reference to shots being fired and a lady running out of a house saying someone is shooting at her.
According to court records, the woman stated her husband, Richard Allan Barrett, woke up angry and began yelling at her. The victim stated as she returned from a bedroom Barrett pulled a gun and pointed it at her.
Barrett reportedly said, “I’m going to (expletive) kill you” and that is when the first round was fired off near the front door.
The second shot came near the home’s back door when Barrett held the gun with both hands.
The woman ran outside of the home and said she heard two more shots go off. She was able to hide behind a neighbor’s vehicle.
Deputies reported they found a bullet hole near both doors.
The victim did not suffer any bullet wounds, but was struck by a crutch and suffered a cut on her arm after falling outside.
Barrett, 45, of Edmond, remains in the Logan County Jail on a $75,000 bond. He was charged on Monday with discharge of a firearm with intent to kill. In addition, he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
