A Crescent man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child under 16 years of age. Now, police are searching for other possible victims.
Guthrie Police arrested Michael John Malatesta on Tuesday afternoon after multiple teens reported they had been touched inappropriately.
The reported victims were able to confirm the 56-year-old’s identity and vehicle with a photo. The red truck identified with Malatesta was towed from where he was taken into custody on Guthrie’s east side.
An arrest warrant was placed for Malatesta’s arrest by a Logan County judge on Tuesday morning with a $75,000 bond. He’s expected to be formally charged as early as Wednesday afternoon.
He faces four felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16 and two felony charges of indecent proposal to a child under 16, according to a release by the Guthrie Police Department.
In 2018, Malatesta pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of outraging public decency for an incident that took place in 2017. He was sentenced to one year in the Logan County Jail with a suspended condition upon good behavior, fined and ordered to have no contact with the victims related to the crime.
Guthrie Police believe other juveniles may have been victimized as well. If there are any additional victims or anyone with additional information is asked to contact the police department at 405-282-3535.
