A high speed pursuit ended with a three-vehicle accident on Guthrie’s east side of town and that eventually led to a 10-minute manhunt, two people taken into police custody and one person transported to the hospital. One of the suspects took off running with a shotgun.
At around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, a silver vehicle collided with a Guthrie trolley van and red pickup truck at the intersection of Poplar and Oklahoma Ave. After the accident, a black male was seen running from the area with a shotgun in hand while another suspect was seen handcuffed at the scene.
A trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was in pursuit of the vehicle before it collided with the two other vehicles. It is unknown at this time why the trooper attempted to pull the suspect’s vehicle over.
Troopers took after the fleeing suspect and were joined with Guthrie police officers and deputies with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement quickly located the weapon that was abandoned in a nearby alley, but the manhunt continued.
Officers saw the suspect heading north near Pine St. and a few minutes later took the suspect into custody near Territorial Trail road about four blocks from the crash.
There are no updates on the trolley driver who was transported non-emergency to the hospital. The suspect at the crash, who had three outstanding warrants, was treated for minor injuries.
