Michele McElwee was sworn in as the new Logan County Assistant District Attorney on Monday morning.
With District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas in attendance, McElwee was sworn in by Associate District Judge Luke Duel.

McElwee spent a year in the Oklahoma County public defender’s office after graduating in 2004 before joining the district attorney’s office.
In 2016, Governor Mary Fallin appointed McElwee as the District Judge in Oklahoma County.
Prior to be appointed as the district judge, she was a part of the special victims unit in the Oklahoma County district attorney’s office. The unit handles sex crimes and crimes against children.
McElwee, a Millwood High School graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Oklahoma in 1994.
