Melinda Murillo has spent the last few seasons as a Lady Jay playing in Miami, Okla. in the annual Northeastern A&M High School Basketball Tournament. Now she will be spending the next couple of seasons playing with the NEO women’s basketball team.
Murillo, who was surrounded by friends and family, signed her letter of intent to play with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
NEO head coach Jim Rowland and assistant coach April Ponds made the trip to Guthrie for the signing. NEO finished the season with a 12-6 conference record and an overall 20-10 record.
Murillo was named to the Suburban Conference First Team All-Conference team in one of the toughest conferences in the state.
The senior, who earned second team all-conference honors a season ago, led the team in scoring for the second straight season when she helped lead her team to a 4-4 conference record.
