Mercy Hospital Logan County Named U.S. Top 20

GUTHRIE – Mercy Hospital Logan County has been ranked as a top 20 critical access hospital for quality care in the U.S. and is one of only three rural facilities in the state with the honor.

To earn the distinction, the Guthrie hospital consistently outperformed more than 1,300 other critical access hospitals nationwide by providing better care for patients hospitalized with illnesses such as heart failure and pneumonia. The ranking by the National Rural Health Association (NHRA) includes critical access hospitals, which have fewer than 25 beds.

“This validates the hard work of our co-workers in providing the very best care,” said Josh Tucker, administrator of Mercy in Guthrie. “It is a true testament of Mercy’s commitment to rural health and to our patients.”

The findings were collected by iVantage Health Analytics using sources available to the public including Medicare cost reports, Medicare claims data and information collected by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

“This reflects the efforts of all of our co-workers, from our nurses to our environmental service technicians to our physicians,” Tucker said. “This means we are providing the very best care to our community.”

Mercy Hospital Logan County, along with Mercy Hospital Kingfisher, will be recognized as two of the NRHA’s top 20 critical access hospitals for “Best Practice in Quality” this September in Kansas City, Missouri.
