Miguel Diaz was named Guthrie Public Schools’ Student of the Month for the month of November. He was nominated by his teacher Beth Taylor.
Miguel, a fourth-grade student at Cotteral Elementary, was nominated for his responsibility and integrity.
“Miguel is an absolute pleasure to have in class,” his teacher Mrs. Taylor said. “I know that I can trust him to do the right thing all the time.”
Miguel is interested in reading, drawing, and making his own comic books.
“Even though he is quiet, he shows kindness to his classmates all the time,” Mrs. Taylor said.
She recalls one time Miguel became friends with a classmate who was struggling to find friends.
“He started talking and playing with this person. As such, they have become great friends.”
The district-wide student of the month program is sponsored locally by Foundation Insurance.
Blake Wimsey with Foundation Insurance presented Miguel with a $50 Walmart gift card and spoke to the classroom about insurance.
This is the fifth year of the program that honors students for their character traits.
