Mize announces his candidacy for House of Representatives District 31

Garry Mize announced on Wednesday he is running for Oklahoma House of Representatives District 31.

“I am very excited to make this announcement and hopeful that I will get to help and work with many individuals that I have known for years,” Mize said in a social media post.

Mize, 40, says he comes from a humble background and says it time to give back to his community.

“Because of my humility and being blessed beyond what I deserve I want to serve the community in which I grew up. Please join me in support of my campaign for House District 31.”

Mize, a Republican, is married with two children. He’s a Guthrie High School graduate and studied business administration at Southern Nazarene University.

According to his profile, Mize is a financial advisor and is the Owner/President of Mize and Associates.

Candidates for federal, state and legislative offices can file for offices April 11-13, 2018.

Incumbent Jason Murphey (R) will term out in 2018. A constitutional amendment, approved by voters, implements a 12-year term limit, restricting legislators to a total of 12 years in the Oklahoma Legislature.
