A motorcyclist was transported to an Edmond hospital on Tuesday evening after being involved in a vehicle accident on Noble Ave. The accident could have been much worse.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Noble Ave. and Poplar St. for a motorcycle versus truck accident at around 5:40 p.m. As they arrived, they found the motorcyclist laying in the grass just off the road.
According to police officials, a green pickup truck turned west onto Noble Ave. (Highway 33) from a convenience store on the south side of the busy highway.
The driver of the truck did not yield to the motorcycle traveling westbound in the inside lane of Noble and struck the male motorcyclist. The collision forced the bike to go on its side, slide across the roadway into the curb and into a residence’s yard.
The truck struck the motorcyclist on the passenger side door and sending him to the ground.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, suffered face and hand injuries and was transported non-emergency to Integris Health Edmond. Just like it is mentioned above, the motorcyclists’ injuries could have been worse, especially if he wasn’t wearing a helmet. This was the right move on his part, although no one can predict whether they will be involved in an accident, especially one that isn’t your fault. If you are someone that rides without a motorbike helmet, if may be in your best interests and others to check out something like identoo motorbike helmets to help you find the necessary essentials you’ll need to assist you while you are on the road. Staying safe, no matter the vehicle should be your top priority.
The driver of the truck was issued a citation at the scene.
