Mullins silences Jays bats; Titans score early, often

Junior left-hander TJ Mullins gives Carl Albert their best chance of winning when he takes the mound. Once again, it was the case Thursday afternoon inside Squires Field.

Before Mullins had taken the mound, the Titans were leading 3-0 and that was more than enough as Carl Albert controlled the game with an 8-0 win over Guthrie. Carl Albert improves to 1-1 while the Jays fall to 2-1.

In just under six innings of work, Mullins piled up 9 strikeouts and allowed just one hit in the sixth inning with an infield  base hit from Guthrie’s Jeremiah Blackmon. Blackmon was the lone Bluejay not to strikeout in the seven inning game.

Carl Albert collected three runs in the first inning with two hits while taking advantage of four walks. The Titans collected at least one hit in the first six innings and finished with 11 in total.

Guthrie’s biggest threat came in the sixth inning when they left the bases loaded. Prior to that, the Jays managed just two baserunners.
