More information has been released in the murder case that occurred over the weekend. The murder suspect continues to sit in the county jail after being denied bail by a judge.
Darion “Vegas” Cook, is facing a first degree murder charge, appeared by video in front of Logan County Judge Susan Worthington on Tuesday afternoon.
Cook, 27, is accused of killing Vernon Wash on June 6. If convicted, Cook could face the death penalty, or life without the possibility of parole.
According to court papers, Cook is alleged to have inflicted blunt force trauma to the head of the victim with a baseball bat and stabbing him with a sharp instrument resulting in the death.
Family members say Wash was allowing Cook to stay with him inside his home at 1423 E. Harrison where the crime occurred.
Cook, who is shown with a Prague address, was appointed a court attorney with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System (OIDS).
He is scheduled to be back in court on June 25 at 9 a.m.
