The Cottonwood North Neighborhood Association is continuing to make an impact in the Cottonwood area of Guthrie. This is an older neighborhood, with a number of homes showing a great deal of wear and tear. This all-volunteer nonprofit association, along with volunteers from Guthrie Christian Church and Best Yett Home Repair in Guthrie, has just completed another facelift project for a disabled homeowner on West Logan Street.
This is the second major project for the Association in the past year, with several more under consideration.
The latest project consisted of replacing the siding, installing a window and storm door on the back porch, replacing a storm door panel, constructing steps to a side door and a complete paint job. The transformation of the home is remarkable.
Repairs to this home were made possible by the generous contribution of building materials through the Home Depot stores on Broadway in Edmond and N. Penn in Oklahoma City, Lowe’s on Kelly Avenue in Edmond, H I S Coatings in Edmond and Neighborhood Solutions.
The City of Guthrie, through First Capital Neighborhood Solutions, is a nonprofit corporation, and is highly supportive of the development of neighborhood associations across Guthrie and Logan County. The goal of these associations is to connect neighbors with each other, and to make the neighborhoods more beautiful and more safe for families. These Lend-A-Hand projects of helping older, disabled or handicapped, and single parent homeowners make urgent repairs to their homes, are just one of several components of an association.
