Bizzell US was recently awarded the federal contract to operate and manage the Guthrie Job Corps Center.
Guthrie Job Corps provides free career training and education for 16 to 24-year-olds. Students gain the experience needed to begin a career or apprenticeship, advance to higher education, or join the military. The program is free to students.
According to the Bizzell US website, they have a deep understanding of the challenges Job Corps students may face and how these may affect their success in the program and beyond.
Bizzell is a small business located in New Carrollton, Maryland.
Guthrie students will be able to obtain high school diplomas and training for in-demand trades. The leading trades at Guthrie are electrical, plumbing, and certified nursing assistants (CNA).
The company says they are poised to connect with local businesses and community organizations to foster a thriving and skilled Guthrie workforce.
Jill Zimmer will serve as the center’s director and has been with Job Corps for nearly 15 years.
Bizzell US says they will provide education and training services to 550 people between 16 and 24 years old. This partnership will also offer 180 staff member jobs within the Guthrie community. Bizzell US says it’s goal is to create meaningful employment opportunities for students through education to better meet industry needs.
