A single vehicle accident in rural Logan County resulted in the death of one man and injuring another on New Year’s Day morning.

According to authorities working the scene, a Ford 150 four-door pickup truck was leaving a residential driveway and took off at a high rate of speed. In the process, lost control of the truck on the gravel road and ran into a tree.
The accident occurred on Stevens Road near Douglas and Simmons around 10:30 Sunday morning.
The driver, Domingo DeLossantos-Mencia (26), was pronounced dead on the scene due to massive head trauma and internal injuries. The passenger, Guillermo Nieto (18), had minor injuries, including a broken wrist.
Both men were wearing seat belts. The cause of the accident was listed as driving at an unsafe speed for the existing road conditions.
