A firetruck from the Oak Cliff Fire Department was involved in a multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon while responding to an emergency call, resulting in significant damage to a department vehicle and minor injury to a firefighter.

At approximately 2:37 p.m., Oak Cliff Fire units – Engine 91, Squad 91, and Chief 902 – were dispatched to an emergency incident near Pennsylvania and Waterloo Roads, alongside mutual aid from Deer Creek Fire Department.

According to officials, as the units traveled westbound on Waterloo Road with lights and sirens activated, a pickup truck pulling a trailer and heading eastbound crossed the centerline into the westbound lanes. While Engine 91 had already passed by, Squad 91 struck the trailer, causing it to detach from the pickup and collide with another civilian vehicle.

Following the crash, Engine 91 and Chief 902 immediately stopped to render aid and requested assistance from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Meanwhile, Deer Creek Fire continued to the original emergency call.

One firefighter aboard Squad 91 reported knee pain and is currently undergoing medical evaluation. No other injuries were reported.

Squad 91 sustained extensive damage and is likely considered a total loss, fire officials said.

In a statement, the department urged drivers to exercise extreme caution during inclement weather and to remain vigilant for multiple responding emergency vehicles.

“Even if one emergency vehicle passes by, expect to see more,” the department said.

The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
