Obituary: Crystal Jean Slater

Crystal Jean Slater, born on September 2, 1978, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on May 13, 2025, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stevie Slater, and their children: Madison Slater, Sierra Henn and her wife Beth, Caleb Slater, his wife Emily, and their newborn daughter Charlotte Mae Slater, as well as her mother-in-law, Patty Slater, all of Guthrie.

Crystal is also survived by her parents, Leonard Baca and Verna Tracey; her sister, Jennifer James; her brothers, Aaron Tracey and Logan Baca; her nieces Kaitlyn, Claire, and Emma; and her nephew, Austin. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fermin and Ninfa Baca; maternal grandparents, Otis Daniel Slawson and Gloria Jean Thurlow; Aunt Verna Evelyn Yarbrough; and Father-in-Law, Steve Slater.

A proud alumna of the University of Central Oklahoma, Crystal earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and dedicated many years to non-profit service. Her commitment to her family, alongside her passion for animals and gardening, defined her life. Crystal had a unique way of bringing people together, often expressing her love through cooking and transforming even the simplest gatherings into memorable feasts.

Crystal’s vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and warmth will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
