OG&E customers are about to get a surprise on their bills.
The company is lowering residential customer bills this summer. That’s because natural gas prices have dropped.
The average residential customer bill will be $25 lower this summer compared to last summer because of the lower fuel charge and depending on energy usage.
Before this adjustment, about 30% of electric bills were for fuel. With this change, the fuel charge will now be about 20% of the resident’s electric bill.
Twice a year the Oklahoma Corporation Commission reviews the fuel adjustment factor that is part of the monthly electric bill.
The reduced fuel charge will lower residential costs for the second time in the last six months.
The new fuel charge goes into effect May 1, and residents will begin to see the lower price on their June bill.
