OHP: Guthrie man causes collision; accused of having odor of alcohol

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a two vehicle accident on Sunday may have been the result of a Guthrie man driving under the influence.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to the accident on Interstate 35 (half mile south of Sorghum Mill Road) in Oklahoma County.

According to a collision report, 33-year-old Stefan Duncan, of Guthrie, was driving a 2013 Kia Forte when the vehicle allegedly struck a 2004 Toyota Sienna from behind as both vehicles were traveling northbound.

Inside the Toyota was the driver and five passengers.

One of the Toyota passengers was ejected out the rear of the vehicle and onto the hood of Duncan’s (Kia) vehicle. The Kia, with the passenger still on the hood, finally came to a stop 600 feet later, the report states.

Meanwhile, the Toyota spun, departed the roadway and into the cable barrier.

The report does not indicate which passenger was ejected onto the Kia, but two passengers were transported and admitted to OU Medical Center with critical injuries.

The three other passengers and the driver of the Toyota were not injured.

Duncan was transported by a trooper to OU Medical Center where he was treated and released.

The trooper’s report labels the cause of the collision as “driving under the influence” and the condition of Duncan as “odor of alcohol.”
