Updated Tuesday at 1:50 p.m. – The Oklahoma Department of Safety confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the person found deceased inside a Guthrie home on Monday was a Oklahoma Highway Patrol state trooper.
Trooper Betsy Randolph said Brad Babb, 35 of Guthrie, was found inside his home in the 300 block of N. 17th street by a family member.
“The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety is saddened to announce the sudden death of Trooper Brad Babb,” Randolph said in a statement.
Babb, a Crescent High School alum, was a graduate from the 52nd OHP Academy in 2000.
The Guthrie Police Department and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate the case.
Original Story – Just before 6 p.m. on Monday, the Guthrie Police Department was called to a home on the town’s west side after a body was found unresponsive inside a home.
The male victim, whose identity was not released at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 300 block of N. 17th street.
Several officers and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers were spotted as they worked the area. 17th street was blocked off for about three hours.
Guthrie Police Chief Damon Devereaux said, “the cause of the death at this time is unknown, but believe this is not a homicide”.
