STILLWATER, Okla. – Parents and new students attending Meridian Technology Center have the chance to get a jump-start on becoming Meridian Made on August 12 with Parent and New Student Orientation.
“We want parents and new students who are attending Meridian to feel like they are a part of the school from day one,” said Jeanie Zagar, Director of the Career Planning Center at Meridian. “Our Parent and New Student Orientation experience gives everyone a chance to become more familiar with the full range of opportunities available at Tech.”
Parents and students can learn about student organizations, career readiness certificates, earning high school credit and college credit after graduating Tech. Additionally, students can sign up for bus transportation and get their parking sticker before school starts on August 13.
“This is an informational event for students and parents to further explore the opportunities available at Meridian such as job opportunities after graduation,” Zagar explained. “It’s also an opportunity for students and parents to have time to talk with instructors and other Meridian staff to be better prepared for their first day of classes.”
Parent and New Student Orientation will be held on August 12 from 3 – 6 pm. The event is come and go, with a parent meeting occurring on every hour and half hour. Guests are asked to enter through the main entrance.
The Meridian Technology Center district includes people living in communities served by Agra, Carney, Glencoe, Guthrie, Morrison, Mullhall-Orlando, Pawnee, Perkins-Tryon, Perry and Stillwater school districts. High school students in these communities are able to attend Meridian at no cost with books provided once school starts. Free transportation is also available with pickup locations at district high schools.
High school students attend Meridian either in the morning or afternoon session and are eligible for high school and college credit in many programs. Last year one in five district high school students attended Meridian for skills training.
Adult students have the option to complete a career training program in a 1- or 2-year option. They are responsible for their own transportation and educational expenses. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
