The March 2023 Certified and Support Employee of the Month for Guthrie Public Schools are Scott Peterman and Ana Salas-Ocampo.
Each was presented with a plaque and a $25 Sonic gift card for their recognition.
Peterman (pictured below), a STEM teacher at Guthrie Junior High School, was nominated by his fellow teacher Chris Raney who says Peterman is a constant professional.
“He has a class that is a favorite among the students. I have heard from kids every year how they enjoy the projects in his class,” Raney said.
Raney says Peterman teaches kids everyday life skills.
“He is a dedicated parent and teacher that has always been willing to help myself and other teachers when we need it.”
Carly Black and Jessica West each nominated Ana Salas-Ocampo for the Support Employee of the Month as they describe her as being a great asset to the Bluejay family.
Salas-Ocampo, the school district’s English Language Learners (ELL) coordinator, translates countless reports and special education and general education meetings.
“She goes above and beyond for our teachers, students, and parents. She makes sure that all students have what they need as long as she is aware of the situation.”
They say without Salas-Ocampo communication would be difficult.
“Without her, we wouldn’t be able to communicate with some of our families. We love Ana.”
