The City of Guthrie will hold a public hearing on Tuesday evening to propose a splash pad and playground project for Mineral Wells Park.
The hearing will take place prior to the council meeting on Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. on the third floor of City Hall.
City officials will be looking for input and ideas from the public regarding the scope of the project, which includes a splash pad and new playground equipment to replace the existing playground equipment inside the park.
The City received an estimate of $206,710 from Splash Zone, LLC (based out of Mesa, AZ) and $113,165.31 from Cunningham Recreation Playground (based out of Charlotte, NC).
City officials are hopeful to fund the project through the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant available through the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation.
Applications are due on July 31.
The grant would be a 50/50 reimbursement grant.
Officials say the goal of the projects is to provide all-inclusive assets for Guthrie that increase quality of life, a guiding principle of the City of Guthrie.
