Our friends in Texas were impacted by tornadoes and violent storms, leaving a path of destruction, injuries, and dozens of communities without power, food and water. Here in Oklahoma, we know what it’s like to face such devastation and destruction.
And, it’s during severe weather like this that we’re reminded how important it is to be prepared when a disaster strikes. Because we live in a disaster prone state, we ask you to please take precautions to be safe and prepared. Stay safe with this Tornado Safety Checklist.
If anyone you know was affected by the storms, we hope they are safe. If you know someone who needs assistance, please reach out to us at the Red Cross. Here are ways that they can get help now. As I write this, many of our Red Cross responders are on the ground, standing shoulder to shoulder with impacted families, providing for their immediate needs such as food, shelter and emotional support. We’ve proudly sent some Oklahoma Red Cross staff members and volunteers to Texas to help with this response.
Although we have meals to deliver, cots to set up, warm blankets to hand out, and emotional support to provide before families can return to their daily lives, I know we can do it because you and so many other supporters are at the heart of our disaster relief. Thank you for supporting the mission of the American Red Cross.
Sincerely,
