Firefighters were called out to a rekindle of a house fire on Guthrie’s west side on Friday afternoon. Nearby neighbors continue to be frustrated with what has been left of the structure.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m., the Guthrie Fire Department responded to 1120 W. Washington. Flames and smoke were seen coming from the already charred remains of the home when crews arrived.
In November, a 59-year-old man died inside the home after becoming engulfed in flames. A subsequent investigation was unable to pinpoint the exact cause of the fire. Related story: House fire on west side of town claims life
While firefighters only needed 20 minutes to extinguish the flames on Friday, people who live near the home say the structure has become a nuisance.
The neighbor told Guthrie News Page they’re not sure if anyone owns the home and that the victim’s family does not live near Guthrie.
Along with the appearance of the home, neighbors say the fire and animal carcasses can still be smelled in the area.
The neighbor feels for the family, but says the structure is not safe to anyone in his neighborhood.
