The January 2023 Certified and Support Employee of the Month for Guthrie Public Schools are Bret Stone and Bob Barker.
The Guthrie Board of Education formally accepted Stone’s retirement, along with his wife Belinda, following this school year.
Stone serves as an assistant principal at Guthrie High School.
“Mr. Stone has been a loyal, trusted, and respected employee for Guthrie Public Schools for the past 26 years,” GHS Principal Chris LeGrande said in his nomination letter.
“He has faithfully served as the dean of discipline at GHS for 19 years and has been an integral piece of my administrative team for the past 11 years.”
LeGrande says being a discipline principal can be a physically and emotionally draining experience with plenty of challenging situations.
“Through it all, Mr. Stone has been able to remain firm, fair, and consistent with the student’s best interests at the forefront of his decision-making process,” LeGrande said.
The high school principal says he has overheard many parents and students whether they agreed with the outcome or not, they Stone always treated them right.
“Mr. Stone is a devoted Bluejay and most deserving to be recognized as Guthrie Public Schools Employee of the Month.
Mr. Bob named Support Employee of the Month
If you attend or stop by Fogarty Elementary, you know Mr. Bob.
Bob Barker was nominated and selected for Support of the Month. While many agree with the nomination, it was Angela Williams who made the official nomination.
“Mr. Bob always goes above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of at our school,” Williams said. “He often takes care of our building on his own and makes sure it is clean and ready for the next day.”
Each was presented with a plaque and a $25 Sonic gift card for their recognition.
