Rowdy Reihs helps Bluejays down Piedmont 8-3

Rowdy Reihs drove in three runs, sparking Bluejays to an 8-3 victory in seven innings over Piedmont on Tuesday at Squires.

Reed Roberts was a workhorse on the mound while bagging the win for Bluejays. Roberts allowed three earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Dalton Egan took the loss for Piedmont. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed no runs.

Bluejays stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring three runs on a groundout by Zane Maltz and a two-run single by Rowdy.

Bluejays piled on three more runs in the top of the fifth. Donovan Jordan started the inning with a single, bringing home Jacob Chappell. That was followed up by Reed’s single, plating Donovan.

Bluejays built upon its lead with two runs in the sixth. A single by Jeremy Wallis ignited the offense, scoring Camden Wilcott.

After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the seventh, Peidmont faced just a 8-3 deficit. An RBI double by Easton Fenton, a groundout by Hunter Chism, and an RBI double by Gabe Griffith sparked Piedmont’s rally. Bluejays closed the game out when Roberts got Max Jirak to ground out.
