The Lady Jays tennis program came away with two consolation wins in the Ada Tournament. Here are the results.
#1 Singles Cheyenne Royal (won consolation)
1st round lost to Booker T. Washington 6-2, 6-4
2nd round she defeated Western Hts 6-2, 2-6 10-8
3rd round she defeated Durant 6-2, 6-4
In the consolation final round she defeated McAlester 6-3, 3-6, 10-5
#2 Singles Heidi Kuruvilla (won consolation)
1st round lost to Carl Albert 6-1, 3-6, 11-9
2nd round she defeated Ada by injury default
3rd round she defeated Western Hts 6-0, 6-0
In the consolation round she defeated Ryan Robbins, of Guthrie, who got to play because the bracket was not full. They had a very close match Heidi won the first set 6-4, lost the second set 4-6 and then won the super tie-breaker 10-6.
#1 Doubles Sarah Howells and Carissa Mathena placed 5th
In the first round they defeated McAlester 6-1, 6-2
In the second round they lost to Ada 6-1, 6-1
In the third round they defeated Ardmore 6-3, 6-4
For the match for 5th place they defeated Deer Creek who they lost to the week before 6-3, 3-6, 6-3
#2 Doubles Kaylea Hopfer/ Kamber Smedley placed 8th
They won their first round against Ardmore 6-1, 6-7, 10-8
In the second round they lost to Ada 6-2, 6-2
In the third round they lost to Deer Creek 6-2, 6-3
In the fourth round they lost to Shawnee 6-2, 6-3
