The Board of Education for Guthrie Public Schools held their first meeting following the recent school board election. In their first action, they voted for positions on the board.

For school board president, Jennifer Bennett-Johnson nominated Sharon Watts and was given a second from board member Travis Sallee. With a 7-0 vote, Watts moved into the position.
Watts defeated Mark Swartzbaugh for the board seat earlier this month by collecting nearly 57 percent of the votes.
Next, Watts nominated Bennett-Johnson for first vice-president and was second by Sallee. It was approved unanimously.
Watts made the next motion of nominating Sallee for second vice-president, a second came from Bennett-Johnson and was followed with a 7-0 vote.
Watts made her third nomination by nominating Tina Smedley for board clerk. It was given a second from Terry Pennington and approved 7-0.
For deputy board clerk, Bennett-Johnson nominated Gail Davis and was given a second from Smedley. The board voted 7-0.
