Guthrie Public Schools is in need of bus drivers and beginning next month drivers will be given benefits, including health insurance and retirement.
The district is down 10 drivers and because of that some drivers have to run two routes to get children from school to their home.
Transportation Director Kathy Bertwell says they don’t like having the kids having to wait just as much as the kids having to wait to be taken home.
Starting pay is $12.65 per hour and the average time for each route is two to two-and-half hours per route. Applications can be found at the Transportation Office near the high school practice field behind Guthrie High School.
Drivers must have a CDL license and the school district says they will help drivers earn the requirement.
