The Logan County Sheriff’s Office and other surrounding agencies are investigating an increase in the theft of larger trailers and tractors in Logan County as well as other jurisdictions.
In a social media posting, the Sheriff’s Office is encouraging everyone to take extra security measures to prevent the theft of their belongings.
“Please use every method available to discourage criminals from targeting your belongings for theft. Locking and chaining your gates is a good start. Use chains, locks, hitch locks, etc. to prevent the theft of equipment. If you have the ability to store your equipment out of site, then that will reduce the chance of being targeted,” the post suggested.
The Sheriff’s Office has increased their rural patrols over normal operations.
Deputies urge citizens to have tag numbers, serial numbers, VIN numbers, photographs and bills of sale to help with the investigation of thefts if they occur. This will enable law enforcement to enter equipment as stolen into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and allow law enforcement nationwide to identify your property as yours.that allows law enforcement nationwide to identify stolen property.
If you have questions or concerns, you’re asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (405) 282-4100.
