A small plane crashed in a wooded area off Seward Road near Ellis Road at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday.
The aircraft had just taken off from the Ellis Harvey Airport before it went down. The sole occupant on board, the pilot, declined medical treatment at the scene despite the crash.
The man, from out of town, was reportedly visiting friends and had engine failure on take off.
In response to the incident, traffic was shut down on Seward Road as officers and firefighters worked the scene.
The Woodcrest and Sooner Fire Departments and Guthrie EMS were among the first responders on site. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office worked the scene before the Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrived to take over.
