The Duncan Demons will look to improve upon a first round playoff last season, but will have to endure a tough non-district schedule that includes Guthrie and Carl Albert before they enter district play.
Duncan Demons
Head Coach Jim Holloway – 39th season
2010 Record 6-5 – Lost to Carl Albert 1st round 30-27 OT
Multiple Gun Offensive Formation and Multiple 50 Defensive Formation
Demons on Offense
The Demons lost three Division I type players on offense last season including two offensive lineman, but returns quarterback Brandon Carietti-Silva, who has changed his last name from Wilson.
A year ago Carietti-Silva, who will be a 3-year starter, tossed for 1,141 yards with 550 rushing yards. He threw for six scores while running for six more. In his sophomore season, he threw for nearly 1,000 yards. In the 2009 first round playoff game against the Jays, he proved to be more of a running threat when he took off for a 44-yard touchdown score.
Carietti-Silva will look to his twin brother Bradley Carietti-Silva, Jared Griffin and Daniel McCoy as primary receivers. The trio brought in 777 yards as a unit a season ago with Griffin leading the way with 422 yards.
Once again this season, the Demons will hand the ball off to senior running back Jordan Laskey, who ran for over 800 yards and scored 12 times. Laskey is an all 5A first team type running back despite his small size at 5’5.
Demons on Defense
The Demons bring back eight starters and will depend on players to play on both sides of the ball including both Carietti-Silva’s.
The secondary returns three starters, whom all are senior players, and return linebacker Jeff Ervin, who collected 66 tackles in 2010.
