The Guthrie High School softball program will once again host regionals this season after claiming the district title last week.
With an 8-2 win over Duncan, Guthrie secured home-field advantage by finishing with an 11-1 district record. Elgin, who will also host a regional, finished runner-up with a 10-2 record.
Overall, Guthrie enters the final week of the regular season with a 22-6 record. In 5A, only Piedmont holds a better record at 26-3 with two of those losses coming from out-of-state teams.
The Jays will play host to the three-team regional with Noble and the Tuesday winner between Lawton MacArthur and Noble. The winner of the regional will advance to the Class 5A State Tournament that is set to begin on Oct. 12 at Firelake.
Guthrie finishes the regular season with 6A opponents to prepare them for the playoffs.
So far, so good.
The Jays shut out Norman North, 3-0, on Friday and doubled up Enid, 10-5, in the final regular season home game on Monday.
Next up will be Edmond North on Tuesday evening.
