It is one of the most exciting days of the school year when Guthrie students of all ages come together to send off some of their favorite athletes.
The Special Olympians were sent off in a big way with a police escort to Interstate 35 as they get set for the 2013 Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games, which kicked off Wednesday and run through Friday.
More than 4,600 athletes and 1,500 coaches from across Oklahoma are in Stillwater for the event.
Guthrie High School lined the school hallways and curled around the front doors where cheerleaders and band members played as if the Jays scored the game winning touchdown.
From there, it was time to head to Guthrie Upper Elementary School were classes were excused to go outside and line up and wish their athletes best of luck. Along with students, the Territorial Riders joined in on the fun and helped escort the bus and the caravan that followed.
The escort made their way past Fogarty and Central schools were again students showed their appreciation with signs and waves.
That was a very good send off that Wednesday Morning at the high school??
