Speed limit changes on Walnut; police asking to be aware

Bookmark and Share

The Guthrie Police Department is urging all drivers to be aware of the new posted speed limit signs down a city road.

After a unanimous vote by City Council in late February, Walnut Street is now 25 mph from the previous 35 mph speed limit. The lowering of the speed is now more consistent with other city streets.

The new speed limit begins from Noble to Hillcrest.

Law enforcement is asking that drivers adhere the 25 mph to avoid any citations from being issued.

The Street Committee came to the solution that decreasing the speed would help in safety with not only vehicles (including buses), but for school children who walk to and from school and pedestrians who run the popular street.
