Upon arrival, family members were outside and warned police the subject had access to multiple guns in the house.
The standoff lasted over five hours as police negotiated with the subject to come out and talk with them. After failing to communicate with him, authorities had two family members speak at different times on the police unit’s loud-speaker to try to get him to come out and talk. Both family members and an officer asked the man to turn the front porch light on so that they knew he was okay, but he never responded.
The subject, described as a white male in his 40’s, never gave any demands or a reason for not coming out.
Members of the SWAT team were activated and peppered multiple rounds of tear gas into the home. With no response, approximately 45 minutes later the SWAT team fired off more gas into the front windows of the home.
Again, after failing to come out, the SWAT team made access into the home and removed the subject, who was hiding in the garage. The home belongs to the suspect’s daughter.
He was immediately hand cuffed and removed from the home through the garage. He was then attended by Guthrie EMS officials and transported to Mercy Hospital Logan County for results of the tear gas.
The man’s name is not being released at this time.
