In a special meeting earlier this month, The State Election Board appointed Sheleen Winscott as the Secretary of the Logan County Election Board.
Winscott, who has been with the county election board for 12 years, was appointed on Aug. 15 inside the State Capitol in Oklahoma City for the two-year term.
The Logan County Board of County Commissioners will acknowledge the appointment at their next meeting scheduled on Thursday.
Winscott, who served as the Asst. Secretary, is a Guthrie native and studied business at Southern Nazarene University.
Senator AJ Griffin who made the recommendation to the state board says county residents are fortunate.
“We are extremely fortunate in Logan County to have a dedicated staff and amazing volunteers ensuring the integrity of our elections,” Griffin said. “As our current board secretary takes her knowledge to benefit the entire state, Logan County is in good hands with the State Election Board’s confirmation of Sheleen.”
“Her twelve years of experience makes her to perfect choice to continue providing our county excellent election services,” Griffin concluded with.
Dorio resigned the post on July 28 after 16 years of service (nearly 10 years as Secretary) and accepted a position with the state board office.
