A public drawing was held last week by the Secretary of the State Election Board, Paul Ziriax, to determine the ballot order for political parties and Independent candidates for the November 5 General Election ballot.
The drawing, conducted in accordance with state law, took place at 9:30 a.m. in Room G3 of the State Capitol Building in Oklahoma City.
The results of the drawing established the following order for political parties on the ballot:
- Libertarian Party
- Republican Party
- Democratic Party
Recognized political party candidates will appear on the ballot in the order determined by the drawing. Independent candidates will be listed on the ballot following the candidates from recognized political parties. If multiple Independent candidates file for the same office, a separate drawing will be held to determine their order on the ballot.
Additionally, Secretary Ziriax announced that two Independent presidential candidates have qualified for the General Election ballot in Oklahoma. The deadline for Independent candidates or candidates from unrecognized parties to file for the presidential race was July 15. The ballot order for these Independent presidential candidates was also determined in today’s drawing:
- Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (presidential candidate) and Nicole Ann Shanahan (vice presidential candidate)
- Chris Garrity (presidential candidate) and Cody Ballard (vice presidential candidate)
The General Election is set for November 5, and the last day to register to vote is October 11. More information on voter registration can be found on the State Election Board’s website at State Election Board.
