The Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and merchants in and around the historical district will again be giving out candy and prizes to children who are trick or treating. This year, at the merchants’ request, streets in the downtown area will be blocked off for safety. Officers of the Guthrie Police Department will also be present to assist with traffic control and pedestrian crossings.
The downtown trick-or-treating will be held between 4 and 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
The Guthrie Street Department will begin setting up barricades at 2 p.m. Starting at that time, access to the post office and other businesses will be limited to foot traffic and official vehicles only. The Guthrie Police Department is requesting motorists plan alternate routes around the downtown area to avoid traffic congestion due to closed streets.
Public parking near the downtown area can be found in parking lots in the 400 block of W. Oklahoma, 200 block S. 2nd, 100 block of E. Harrison and along adjacent streets.
